What sound card should I get? USB or Firewire?
A sound card is also known as an “Audio Interface”.There are 3 basic types of sound cards:
1) PCI
2) Firewire
3) USB
PCI connects right behind your pc. It’s a bit difficult to access it, but it has little latency.
USB audio interface is easy to access it but has more latency.
Firewire audio interface is easy to access it and has little latency as PCI.
So you recommend firewire, but what’s the difference between USB and Firewire?
USB promises you more speed, but it doesn’t uses this speed at maximum.

What speakers should I get?
Well my friends, when you mix you have to make sure that you listen to all the frequencies with no distortion to the sound.
- The most important thing is to have a nice flat sound.
Don’t use the 50$ super-duper Logitech speakers with the EQ-boost from Realtek driver. It may charm the sound when listening to a song but in mixing we need as flat as possible sound. ( I said that didn’t I? )
Ok I got that, but why?
You must let the listeners choose to add bass and stuff if they want.
Your job is to create your sound and your sound must be real. If you turn EQ-boosts on or if you’ve bought speakers with a relative higher bass/mid/high response then your speakers are lying to you. Read more »
